Catalog notes

Sanborn’s 1913 atlas records St. Petersburg at the scale of streets, lots and individual buildings. Its color key, building details, water-supply notes and account of the fire department show how urban surveying served the practical assessment of fire risk. The complete set of 29 numbered sheets preserves neighborhood detail alongside an index that connects the separate sheets.
