Catalog notes
This nineteenth-century Japanese atlas looks backward to China’s Three Kingdoms era. Rather than recording the political world of its own publication date, it maps an earlier division of territory for readers studying history. That distinction makes it a useful addition to a map collection: an old map may be a contemporary record, or it may already be an interpretation of a much older past.
