Catalog notes

This Spanish nautical chart depicts Tampa Bay with coastal islands and depth information, with north directed toward the upper right of the sheet. Its orientation is a useful reminder that a map need not place north straight up to serve its purpose. The chart would give the collection an early local coastal perspective and an opportunity to explain how a maritime map organizes space around navigation.
