Catalog notes
Florida is divided here by pine-forest information rather than county colors alone. The legend distinguishes pine types and areas where merchantable pine had already been cut. That makes the map a record of resource use as well as vegetation. Its value in the repository is the way it encourages readers to recognize a working landscape behind the familiar state outline and to ask what the categories were intended to measure.
